Stephen began his career for a major international construction company as a Site engineer. After a spell working for a few local companies he joined the Property Services Agency as a technical officer dealing with the maintenance of a wide variety of commercial, catering, leisure, health, and specialist facilities at RAF Brize Norton. He became a Chartered Surveyor and progressed his career in private practice with both an architectural and surveying firm. During this period he became well versed in the conversion of older and listed properties. He entered Loss adjusting providing surveying expertise to one of the largest international companies in a period when widespread subsidence was prevalent. He was personally responsible for the handling of large and small commercial and domestic insurance claims from the identification of causation by forensic and other techniques through to reinstatement.
